Pukekohe High School have retained the 1st XV Challenge Cup after defeating Rosehill College 29-3 in the opening match of the Counties Manukau Secondary Schools competition on Friday night.
The two sides helped kick off the new season at the season launch at Navigation Homes Stadium.
Wesley College edged Manurewa High School 29-26 in a tight battle at Wesley College while Papakura High School claimed a 44-14 win over Waiuku College.
The Tuakau College/Onewhero Area School side got off to a hot start in the Y11+ grade, taking a 52-5 win on the road at Pukekohe High.
Alfriston College managed to sneak past Wesley College 13-10 in a tight affair.
Pukekohe High School picked up a 27-24 win over Tuakau/Onewhero in the Year 10 competition.
Wesley College collected a 49-3 win over Waiuku.
Papakura High School made a winning start to the Girls XV competition, beating Alfriston College 64-12 in the opener.
James Cook High secured a 64-5 victory over Waiuku College while Pukekohe High blanked Wesley College 25-0.
