The Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union (the Union) is seeking applications for an experienced Strength and Conditioning coach to manage and lead the Strength and Conditioning department in the design, implementation and on-going evaluation of the Counties Manukau Rugby Athletic Performance Program. Ensure alignment between the pathway, academy and senior development programs across both Men’s and Women’s programmes. Encourage and lead behaviors that align with our Pride in the Hoops values.
The Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union was formed in 1955 and encompasses a vast catchment area, including Manurewa Rugby Club in the north and extending down to the Te Kauwhata Rugby Club in the south. The region also spans from Waiuku Rugby Club in the west to Beachlands Maraetai Rugby Club in the east.
The purpose of the Union is to grow, empower and inspire our people through rugby and we are on a mission to be the pride of our community. It all starts with a healthy community game and aspirational pathways to our flagship teams, and that’s where you’ll come in.
Ideally, candidates would have experience in the following areas:
- Recognised experience in leading and delivering an integrated athletic performance, player monitoring and management plan across development pathways.
- Planning and implementation of a comprehensive periodised plan of development for athletes across all programs
- A background in sports and exercise science
- An understanding of the game of rugby
- Proven relationship management and networking skills
- Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills
- Outstanding communication skills – both written and verbal
- Presenting or facilitating at training workshops
To be considered for this role, you must be a leader with the necessary skills to help drive the Union’s strategic plan in our community and performance pathways. This must be backed up by strong personal qualities and a management style that connects, grows & inspires our people. You must have excellent rugby acumen be technically and tactically proficient in all areas of the modern game and have an absolute passion for the sport at the grassroots level. In addition, you must be a champion for the athletic trainers in our game and be hungry to help see it thrive within our region.
