Pukekohe faces old foes Manurewa in a key early season contest at Colin Lawrie Fields in Pukekohe on Saturday and Michael Porter’s side is wary of an in-form opponent.

Pukekohe dropped their opening game against Ardmore Marist before bouncing back to triumph against Bombay last week.

Their tough early schedule continues with an unbeaten Manurewa outfit that have hit the ground running.

“I think we really need to get our defence right this week, as they have a lot of good ball carriers across the park,” Pukekohe coach Michael Porter told Counties Sports Hub.

“We need to limit them there.

“Rewa are always a good side and a big, physical team.”

Papakura coach Mike Tuiloma comes up against his old side when his team heads up the hill to face Bombay at Bombay.

Patumahoe will look to respond to last week’s loss to Karaka when they host Weymouth at Patumahoe Domain.

Unbeaten sides Ardmore Marist and Karaka will meet in what shapes as an epic clash at Bruce Pulman Park.

Waiuku, fresh off a win last week, will head to Patumahoe in their Bob Chandler Cup Premier 2 match.

The Sid Marshall Shield roars back to life after a week off at Easter with defending champions Te Kauwhata hosting Onewhero in a big game at Te Kauwhata.

Maramarua makes the trek over the river to face Te Kohanga while Tuakau hosts Pukekohe.

Drury takes on Karaka at Karaka Sports Complex and Manurewa travels to Puni.

Ardmore Marist hosts Karaka in the Massey Cup U21 grade in what should be a thrilling match.

Elsewhere, RuaNorth is at home to Manurewa and Patumahoe travels to neighbouring Pukekohe.

Beachlands Maraetai head south to play Karaka at Karaka Sports Complex in the U85kg grade.

Waiuku hosts Bombay, Drury faces Pukekohe in Pukekohe, while Patumahoe takes on Hamilton Marist in Patumahoe.

The Manurewa Women kick off their season in the Auckland Premier grade with a road trip to play Auckland Marist.

Local sides Patumahoe and Weymouth meet in the Premier 2 grade at Clive Howe Field while Papakura hosts Pukekohe in another all-Counties Manukau battle at Massey Park.
