The USA Men’s Sevens program has confirmed the 2025 Men's Sevens Talent ID process offering aspiring Eagles Sevens players various avenues to catch the eye of USA Rugby High Performance and represent the United States on the international stage.
This comprehensive pathway will identify top talent for selection to this year’s USA Men’s Sevens development teams, and potential residency contracts for the next cycle.
USA Men’s Sevens Pathways Coach, Ben Pinkleman said, "We are committed to providing clear pathways and opportunities for athletes to excel and realize their dream of playing in the Olympic Games. Looking forward, new USA Men’s Sevens residency contracts will be awarded in September following a summer of Sevens that is regionally competitive. We are excited to work with USA Club Rugby to encourage the return of regional select side tournaments, these will provide a key part of the talent ID pathway that will kick off at the LA Invitational with hopefully more to follow.
Athletes and clubs who believe they have international level talent for the high performance pathway should encourage their teams and or players to seek out and participate in one of the outlined competitions or Talent ID camps.”
The first opportunity to represent the Men’s Falcons will be at the Developmental EAAST 7s in France. This 2 week tournament will take place May 25- June 8, with a week long camp in Chula Vista May 18-25 before departure. Selection for this team will be based on scouting from:
- LA Invitational Premier Bracket - Regionally based Men’s select sides in conjunction with USA Club Rugby
- CRAA Collegiate Playoffs and regular season
- Current USA Men’s Sevens residency players
Players will have a second chance to put their hand up for the Men’s Falcons at RugbyTown 7s in late August. Selected athletes will come together for camp in Colorado preceding competition. Consideration for selection will be based on performances from the following:
- Club 7s season and National Championship (Aug 2025)
- Major League Rugby (MLR) season
- Premier Rugby Sevens (PR 7s)
- USA 15s U23 Summer Tour
- Current USA Men’s Sevens residency players
Men’s U18 players will have the opportunity to represent the USA at the Global Youth Sevens tournament in New Zealand. There are many ways to get selected for this team but scouts will be present at:
- Tropical 7s (Florida, April 25-27)
- USA Youth & High School Talent ID Tour - See Dates
- High School Nationals (May 22-24)
- North American Invitational (NAI) 7s (Utah, July 25-27)
From 1 September, available contracts for the USA Olympic Men’s Sevens residency program will be offered to eligible players that demonstrate a trajectory to being able to impact team performance for LA28 or beyond.
