Round 6 of the Fortescue Women's Premier Grade delivered plenty of points and a thrilling finish, with Cottesloe continuing their dominant form and Wests Scarborough edging out Wanneroo in a Match of the Round contender. The scheduled clash between Palmyra and Perth Bayswater has been postponed.
Cottesloe produced an emphatic attacking display to defeat Southern Lions 81-10. Southern Lions showed resilience with two tries, including one from Ross, but Cottesloe proved relentless from start to finish. Bell, Hotene and Hart each crossed for doubles, while further tries to Guyton, Foster, Mountain, Harvie and Savea capped off a commanding performance. Bell added eight conversions to round out an impressive individual outing.
The clash between Wests Scarborough and Wanneroo went right down to the wire, with Wests emerging 36-33 victors. Derera, Puki, Knight and Tetuhi Nathan all crossed for Wests, while Heta starred with two tries and three conversions. Wanneroo fought until the final whistle through two tries from Banza, as well as Kereopa, Ah-Sam and Pomare crossing. Te Tana and Kifayatullah each added two conversions, but Wests held on to claim the narrow win.
This Saturday, Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade takes centre stage as part of a special WA rugby triple-header at Wanneroo Rugby Union Club.
The day kicks off with the Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade match between Wanneroo and Cottesloe at 12:05pm, before the Western Force Super Rugby Women’s side takes on the Queensland Reds at 2:05pm. The action continues with the Fortescue Men’s Premier Grade clash between Wanneroo and Cottesloe at 3:30pm.
