Weymouth got back on the horse in the Women’s Premier Development grade with a 61-15 win over Pakuranga on Saturday.

After a couple of losses, Weymouth found their mojo in a comfortable win and move to fifth on the competition ladder.

“We are still building as a team,” technical advisor Nate Moeauri said. “I think the first three games were almost like a trial or pre-season games.

“We haven’t found our core starting team through those game.

“We have got a pretty good idea now of a starting side. With a bye this week, we will start building on combinations.

“We have 17 debutants in that first game against Waitakere – most of them had never played rugby before. Now it is a journey to become the best team in that development grade. It is about the journey it takes to get there.”

Pukekohe picked up a big 87-0 win over Papakura that sees them jump up to third on the table.

Manurewa had their first loss of the Women’s Premier season as they fell to arch-rivals Ponsonby 39-28 at Western Springs.

The game went back-and-forth but the home side held strong in the final stages.

Patumahoe were unlucky not to get a win against North Shore after leading for long periods in their game. They eventually fell 41-28.
