Pukekohe remain atop the McNamara Cup standings after picking up a 62-3 win over Papakura at Colin Lawrie Fields on Saturday.

Michael Porter’s side improves to a perfect four from four as a result and have a maximum 20 competition points.

“Happy with the win and to get five points,” Porter said. “It was a pretty stop-start game; we felt like we couldn’t get a flow on.

“I thought TK [Te Kauri Parkinson] in the midfield had a really strong game.”

Patumahoe kept pace to hold second place thanks to their third win in four games with a 45-19 win over Ardmore Marist at Patumahoe Domain.

After an opening round loss to Karaka, Patumahoe have won three straight games.

“Good first 40 from the boys,” coach Brad Healy said of the performance.

“Credit to Ardmore as they didn’t go away in the second half.

“We still have a lot of work to do but happy with the boys’ display today. We went with a young squad in experience today and they really stepped up.”

Karaka took a convincing 43-19 win over Bombay at Karaka Sports Complex to continue their unbeaten start to the season. They improve to three from three with the result.

“Thought we played really well in the first half,” coach Craig Hill said. “A few mistakes initially but we were at the right end of the field and kept working away at it.

“The second half, Bombay capitalised on a couple of our own errors and we didn’t finish a couple we should have. “All in all, a good performance.”

Ardmore Marist grabbed the chocolates over Patumahoe 28-14 in Bob Chandler Memorial Premier 2 action.

Pukekohe beat Papakura 47-18, while Karaka hammered Bombay 61-7.
