Manurewa will be desperate to get into the winner’s circle on Saturday when they face Karaka in the McNamara Cup at Mountfort Park.

After back-to-back narrow losses to Pukekohe and Patumahoe, Jeremy Clark’s side will be eager to come out on the right side of the ledger.

“We have been in both of our first two games, but just little things have stopped us from winning,” Clark said.

“Its early in the season and we are there or thereabouts but it would be good to get something to show for the hard work.

“Karaka will be tough up front so we are going to have to get a big performance out of our pack if we are to win.”

Bombay, who have had a win and a loss in the opening fortnight, hosts Patumahoe up the hill. The visitors are coming off a narrow win over Manurewa.

Pukekohe, with two wins from two to start with, travels to Bruce Pulman Park to face an Ardmore Marist side that hammered Papakura last weekend.

Both sides have undergone significant change since last year and the game should serve as a good test for both outfits.

Weymouth hosts Drury in the Sid Marshall Shield at Laurie Gibbons Reserve. Tuakau heads up the hill to play Onewhero while in form Te Kauwhata travels to Te Kohanga.

Waiuku plays host to Maramarua while Manurewa travels to Puni.

Pukekohe and Karaka meet in the Massey Cup U21 competition at Colin Lawrie Fields while in other games Waiuku hosts Ardmore Marist and Patumahoe hosts Manurewa.

The Bright Cup U19 weekend kicks off under lights on Friday night when Waiuku hosts Patumahoe. On Saturday, Rua North hosts Ardmore Marist while Manurewa travels to Pukekohe.

Bombay and Waiuku meet in an U85kg game up the hill at Bombay. Drury hosts Waikato’s Fraser Tech while Karaka is at home to Hamilton Marist.

Patumahoe and Pukekohe square off in a local derby at Patumahoe.
