Manurewa made it two from two in the Women’s Premier grade after they beat North Shore 43-15 at Mountfort Park on Saturday.
After withstanding some early heat, it was one way traffic in favour of the home side.
“It was an awesome day of celebration with a decent crowd on the sideline cheering our ladies on,” said coach Arihiana Marino-Tauhinu.
“North Shore came out strong with an impressive young team and crossed the line first.
“We absorbed a lot of pressure at the beginning, but our girls persevered and worked really hard to score some awesome team tries.“Big mihi to North Shore for an awesome match.
“We look forward to a season full of hard work, learning but most of all fun and connections.”
Patumahoe picked up their second win of the season as well, accounting for Marist 32-29 away from home in a tight battle.
Pukekohe hammered Glenfield 95-0 in their first match in the Women’s Development competition.
Elsewhere, Weymouth proved too strong for Waitakere 38-15 while Papakura went down to MK Rangers 53-5.
