Counties Energy Heat winger Jaymie Kolose has earned her first call-up to the Black Ferns Sevens squad, set to debut at the prestigious Los Angeles Championship tournament.
“Jaymie first joined our programme two years ago, coming straight from touch rugby,” said Black Ferns Sevens Head Coach Cory Sweeney. “She’s an exciting young athlete who has grown tremendously. Her strong connections within the team through development tournaments have helped her flourish, and she’s someone who has the potential to make a real impact in the sevens game.”
CMRFU CEO Chad Shepherd also praised Kolose's achievement, saying, “We’re incredibly proud of Jaymie. Her patience and resilience have been outstanding, and her selection is a well-deserved reward for her form over the past two seasons.”
This year, the World Series champion will once again be decided in a single, winner-takes-all tournament, just weeks after the Black Ferns Sevens clinched the League title for most points accumulated across the season.
The Los Angeles event, dubbed the World Championship, features the top eight teams from the men’s and women’s series. The Black Ferns Sevens have been drawn into Pool A alongside Canada, Japan, and Great Britain.
