Counties Manukau Heat and Black Ferns star Hazel Tubic has been confirmed as the Women’s Academy and Pathways Manager at Counties Manukau Rugby.

Arguably the region’s most decorated female player, Tubic has enjoyed a stellar playing career while also giving back through various roles with the Union over the years.

She has played 22 test matches for the Black Ferns and was part of their World Cup winning sides in 2017 and 2021.

“We are very pleased to have Hazel on board in the Rugby Department,” said Counties Manukau Rugby Director of Rugby Reon Graham.

“Her contribution to the game not only in our region but also on the international stage is an inspiration to our local players. Hazel lives our values and understands our purpose which is to grow, empower and inspire people through rugby.

“She has obviously been doing this on the field and now gets a chance to continue to do it off the field in the coaching and development space.”

Tubic herself was delighted to continue her journey with the Union.

“I’m thrilled to be on board with a Union I’m passionate about and proud to be a part of,” she said. “There’s an incredible amount of talent in our region, and I’m excited to help grow and develop our young female athletes, giving them the opportunity to experience high-performance rugby.”
