It is with much sadness Sydney Rugby Union has learned SRU Life Member Brian Johnstone has passed away.

Brian had a long history with SRU and Rugby. Having joined the Drummoune Dirty Reds at the end of 1952 and played in the backs as a half, fly half or full back until 1966. His 239 games for the Club included 73 in First Grade.

He became the Club’s delegate to the Sydney and NSW Rugby Unions and served on the Executive Committees of those Unions and of the Australian Rugby Union during the period to 1985.

Brian was elected Drummoyne Club President in 1987 and 1988 and provided strong support in all the Club’s deliberations, and in recognition of his service to the Club and Rugby, he was acknowledged with Life Membership of Drummoyne in 2008 and further life membership of Sydney Rugby Union

Our condolences to Joan and the Johnstone Family, all those at the Dirty Reds and the wider community.
