The California Grizzlies, in collaboration with USA Rugby Training & Education, are pleased to launch an immersive Level 2 Coach Development Experience in Argentina from June 29 through July 12.
Expanding beyond a traditional coaching course, this unique international coach development opportunity is designed to place coaches directly inside a live touring environment where learning happens in real time through practical application, observation, collaboration, and mentorship.
The program will be led by World Rugby Educator Mike Hodgins, alongside California Grizzlies staff throughout the tour. To maximize learning and mentorship opportunities, participation will be strictly limited to eight coaches, creating a highly individualized and hands-on development experience.
The California Grizzlies are placing a significant focus on coach development and creating opportunities for coaches to learn within active elite rugby environments alongside players and staff competing internationally, rather than solely through classroom-based delivery.
This Level 2 Coaching Course is designed for coaches who want to challenge themselves, expand their understanding of the game, and develop within a demanding international rugby touring environment.
- Work directly with California Grizzlies players and coaching staff throughout the tour
- Participate in tactical, technical, and unit-based coaching sessions
- Observe and engage within a live international touring program
- Learn international rugby methodologies and coaching approaches firsthand
- Receive direct mentorship, feedback, and coach evaluation throughout the experience
- Develop practical coaching skills in real-world environments rather than simulated classroom settings
- Build relationships and networks with coaches operating within the USA Rugby pathway system
- Experience the operational, cultural, and performance demands of international rugby touring
- Attend the Scotland vs Argentina International Test Match experience
- Coach Argentine players during a pre-arranged coaching session
- Spend time with Argentine coaching staff and gain insight into local coaching systems, philosophies, and environments
- Register for the Level 2 Course through Rugby Xplorer
- Register for the California Grizzlies Argentina Tour
- Attend required pre-tour and post-tour online sessions
- Attend the full international tour, or at minimum participate in four designated Level 2 coach practical sessions while in Argentina
- This is an outstanding opportunity for coaches who are serious about their long-term development and want exposure to a genuine high-performance rugby environment while working alongside experienced international coaching staff.
