Tū Kotahi Wahine 40 - 0 Pionner - 17th May

On a very rainy Saturday, Tū Kotahi Wahine took to the field at Marist against Pioneer. Before the first whistle, the players and crowd observed a one minute silence for the loss of Regan, a friend to many in both the Midlands and Marist clubs. The game started quickly for the M&Ms with a converted try. This was followed by 30 minutes of both teams trying very hard to breach the other’s defences.

Pioneer were relentless in this time, with a lot of the game play in the M&Ms red zone. Just before the 40 minute mark M&Ms scored again, shortly followed by a penalty, which was tapped and kicked to touch to end the first half 12-0.

The second half brought 4 more converted tries over 25 minutes for M&Ms. Pioneer were determined to get some points on the board and attacked tenaciously for the last 15 minutes, but never quite found a hole in M&Ms defense. This part of the game was a real nail biter for a very soggy, but encouraging crowd. The final score was 40-0 to Tū Kotahi Wahine.
