Two RugbyWA Community alums have been selected for the Australia U16 Development Camp next month.

National Pathways Manager Nic Henderson and Australia U16 head coach Tim Rapp have named a 25-man squad to participate in a development camp next month.

Emerging from their standout performances for the Western Force in the Super Rugby U16s, Southern Lions’ Bareek Kleine-Deters Ausage and RugbyWA Academy alum Chase Bunce have both been selected in the squad.

Kleine-Deters Ausage finished the Super Rugby U16s as the league leader for lineout takes (26), with two lineout steals and joint first for dominant tackles.

Bunce, who plays in the RugbyWA competition at utility back for Cottesloe, had a team-high line breaks (4), with seven tackle breaks for 152 carry metres and 237 kicking metres.

“We are absolutely thrilled to see local talent named in the Australia U16s,” RugbyWA’s General Manager – Rugby, Dane Lazarus, said. “Chase and Bareek both had outstanding performances for the Force in the Super Rugby U16s, so it’s great to see them rewarded.”

“There’s so much depth of talent in the RugbyWA community, and we’re happy to see it being recognised on a national level.”

The Australia U16s squad will assemble at Blacktown Exercise, Sports & Technology Hub from Saturday 7 December, with the camp culminating in a clash with the Waratahs U17s at Concord Oval on Thursday 12 December.
