Wallabies flanker Carlo Tizzano has revealed a timely run in with English star Tom Curry has him pumped up for the Lions Tour.
In an excellent, wide-ranging chat on Kicks on and Kick Off, Tizzano bumped into the backrower whilst getting his teeth fixed after an unfortunate sleep-walking incident, leading to what the Force enforcer believes was a lack of respect from Curry.
“On Spring Tour, I saw him at the dentist, and I wished him luck for the weekend, and he acted like I was a nobody, and I was like ‘f***,” he told KOKO.
“I was just being a good bloke telling him to rip in because the day before I completely chipped my tooth off falling over walking back from talking a piss and split my lip in half.
“I was a little rattled so I was thinking ‘you’re lucky I’m not playing mate.’"
A wild rumour from All Blacks World Cup hero Stephen Donald has added a new chapter to the league-union player market.
Donald went on The Aftermatch podcast, revealing his sources say NRL star Ponga is exploring a potential move to union, with the Knights fullback eligible for both New Zealand and Australia.
"A lot of you messaged in saying, Kayln Ponga, Kalyn Ponga,” Donald told The Aftermatch.
“Well yes, I must admit that in the last couple of weeks a little contact of mine in Australia has let it slip that he is under the impression that rugby union is still on the table for Kalyn Ponga.
"...He’s a Palmy boy, the Canes is a natural fit."
Moana Pasifika have been forced to move their Round Six match against the Chiefs from Nukuʻalofa due to 'logistical challenges.'
The match has been moved to Pukekohe at the same time slot, where they will also host the Brumbies on April 19.
“Our hearts are in the Pacific and that is where we want to be but it wasn’t possible for this fixture due to things that were out of our hands,” Moana Pasifika CEO Debbie Sorensen said in a statement.
“It’s sad to say that we can’t make it happen this time but are already looking at how we can take a game to Tonga in 2026.”
NSW Waratahs flyer Darby Lancaster believes it would be beneficial for more Super Rugby prospects to spend time in the Sevens program in order to accelerate their skills.
Lancaster made his name on the Sevens circuit and is one of several star outside backs to succeed through the pathway, including Wallaby Dylan Pietsch and Brumbies excitement machine Corey Toole.
“I'm a big advocate for, especially outside backs, playing sevens before coming across to fifteens," he told the media.
“ I got such a benefit out of it with my own game and especially, with 'Pietschy', he’s playing awesome footy at the moment so it's really good to see a few of us transferring to fifteens as well.”
