NSW Rugby Union are excited to announce a thrilling curtain raiser event between Sydney Church of England Grammar School (Shore) and Barker College, set to take place prior to the much-anticipated NSW Waratahs v Qld Reds Super Rugby Pacific clash at Allianz Stadium.
This exciting fixture will showcase the next generation of rugby talent, with Shore and Barker rugby teams going head-to-head in what promises to be an action-packed match. The curtain raiser will kick off at 5.20pm giving fans the opportunity to enjoy a showcase of schoolboy rugby before witnessing the Waratahs in action.
“We are incredibly excited to be part of such an important event, showcasing our students in front of a passionate rugby crowd,” said David Mason-Jones Master in Charge of Rugby at Shore.
“Shore has a long and proud tradition of involvement in schoolboy rugby, not only competing at the top end of the sport but also continuing to grow participation in our game with over 600 players at the school and 36+ teams, and this match against Barker will be a great opportunity to see the talent of our boys on display.
We look forward to what promises to be a great contest.”
Barker’s Head of Sport, Cam Anderson, shared his enthusiasm for the match, saying, “Barker has always prided itself on developing well-rounded students, and our rugby program is a key part of that.
This curtain raiser is a fantastic opportunity for our boys to step up and show their skill and passion for the game on such a significant stage. We’re proud to be part of this exciting event with Shore.”
NSW Rugby’s commitment to nurturing and supporting the development of young players in the rugby community is a key focus, and the event reflects their ongoing investment in grassroots rugby.
Both Shore and Barker have a long-standing tradition of producing exceptional rugby talent, and this match provides a platform for future stars to showcase their skills.

Tickets for the curtain raiser are included in the entry to the Waratahs’ Super Rugby Pacific match, offering fans the chance to experience two exciting games in one day.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to catch all the action and show their support for the young players representing Shore and Barker.
