The pair depart the program after over 75 combined events on the World Series, helping Australia to a famous Triple Crown (World Series, Commonwealth Games and Sevens World Cup) in 2022.
“We thank Madison and Sariah for their contribution to Australian Rugby and wish them well for the future,” RA Director of High Performance Peter Horne said in a statement.
“We are pleased and confident with the depth across the Women’s Sevens program following a season in which the squad won the HSBC SVNS World Championship and we are looking forward to another strong campaign in 2026-27.”
Ashby was named co-captain of the team alongside Bella Nasser ahead of the most recent season, returning from an ACL injury.
The 25-year-old debuted as a teenager in 2018 and has been a regular ever since.
She was fast-tracked into the leadership program to learn under the likes of Charlotte Caslick, before her long-term injury ended her dream of a second Olympics.
“Couldn’t be prouder of this group and everything we’ve achieved together. So grateful for the memories and moments we’ve shared. Going to miss this team more than you know,” Ashby said via social media.
Meanwhile, Paki is the most experienced member of the Women’s squad with 44 event appearances to her name.
Her debut came in Dubai in 2018, becoming the youngest player to ever compete for Australia on the global stage.
The two-time Olympian has been a mainstay of the program, helping them to gold against Fiji in the Commonwealth Games Final in 2022.
