Five RugbyWA community clubs have successfully secured funding through the WA Government's Game On, Girls program, which aims to increase participation, retention and engagement of girls aged 13–17 in community sport by helping clubs create welcoming, inclusive and supportive environments.

The following RugbyWA clubs were successful recipients:

  • Ellenbrook Vipers Rugby Union Club
  • Mandurah Pirates Rugby Union Football Club
  • Palmyra Rugby Union Club
  • Perth Bayswater Rugby Union
  • Wests Scarborough Rugby Union Club

Each club will receive funding of up to $5,000 to deliver initiatives that strengthen girls’ participation in rugby.

The grants provide clubs with funding to deliver initiatives that encourage greater participation, retention and engagement of girls in rugby. RugbyWA will be sharing more about each club's projects over the coming months.

RugbyWA CEO Simon Taylor said the funding represented an important investment in the future of the game.

"Creating positive and inclusive sporting experiences for girls is critical to the continued growth of rugby in Western Australia.

"We are proud to see five of our community clubs recognised through the Game On, Girls program and look forward to seeing the impact these initiatives have on attracting, retaining and engaging more young women in rugby."

Women’s and girls’ rugby continues to experience strong growth across Western Australia, with rugby clubs providing welcoming environments where participants can build confidence, develop friendships and enjoy the benefits of community sport.

The success of these five clubs highlights the commitment across the rugby community to creating opportunities for more girls to get involved and remain connected to the game.

RugbyWA congratulates the successful clubs and acknowledges the WA Government’s continued investment in creating more opportunities for girls to participate in community sport.
