Ten Western Force players including newcomer Zoe Elliott have headed to Canberra to be part of the first of two Wallaroos’ February training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport as preparations begin for the 2026 Test season.

Interim Wallaroos Head Coach Sam Needs will have his first opportunity of the year to coach the national squad ahead of the side’s opening Test match against Fijiana on 27 March.

The first camp will conclude on Thursday before the group reassembles at the AIS from 23 - 26 February.

The squad features 26 World Cup representatives and 14 uncapped rookies looking to make their international debut this year, along with four camp invitees.

Reigning Super Rugby Women’s champions NSW Waratahs are represented by 16 players while ACT Brumbies have 11, Western Force nine and Queensland Reds eight.

Australia Sevens young gun Piper Simons has also been added to the camp, along with Western Force prop Zoe Elliott and Queensland Reds pair Piper Flynn and Kaelyn Passi.

Interim Wallaroos Head Coach Sam Needs said: "We’re all looking forward to our first camp of 2026 and to build off the back of our time together before Christmas that helped set up the new campaign.

"It’s the first of two camps we have before we assemble as a squad for PAC4, and the players have been training well with some great pre-season results across the board and we can’t wait to continue to build off that momentum over the few months.

"With 2029 our landmark we’re working towards, we’ve built a great squad for the first year of the new World Cup cycle with key experience leading the way mixed in with some new players which we’re all excited to see take that next step in their rugby journey."

The Wallaroos will play 10 Test matches in 2026 with four home fixtures and six overseas, kicking off with a Test against Fijiana before the Pacific Four series, to be played in Australia and the US in April.

The 2026 Swyftx Super Rugby Women’s competition will follow in a new timeslot with a draw release to be made in due course.

A second edition of the O’Reilly Cup between Australia and New Zealand will be played on August 22 in Auckland before the Wallaroos prepare for the WXV Global series in September and October.

The Wallaroos will travel to Europe for the first three Test matches, to be announced by their opponent's unions, before returning for two home Test matches against Scotland.
