Queensland coach Les Kiss will unleash a near-full strength outfit with 14 Wallabies named in for the Reds' UK Tour opener against Bristol.

Only hooker Richie Asiata and winger Lachie Anderson are yet to don Wallaby gold in the starting line-up with Kiss rolling out almost every available Test star to tackle the Bears at Ashton Gate on Saturday morning.

Alex Hodgman and Zane Nonggorr form a formidable front row with incumbent Wallabies hooker Matt Faessler also listed on the pine behind Asiata while former Rebels duo Josh Canham and Lukhan Salakai-Loto reprise their locking combination in maroon.

Though there's no sign yet of co-captain Liam Wright as he builds towards his return from ingoing shoulder complaints, Seru Uru, Fraser McReight and Harry Wilson are an all-Test backrow with Tate McDermott and Tom Lynagh paired in the halves.

Hunter Paisami's return from injury is a welcome addition inside Josh Flook while Anderson joins returning Red Filipo Daugunu and Jock Campbell in a quality back three.

In a statement, Kiss said Bristol would provide quality opposition ahead of their Super Rugby Pacific opener.

“It’s a privilege for us to be representing Queensland on the world stage, and we are excited to show who we are, how we play and what is important to us.

“Challenging ourselves against top quality opposition is the sole reason we are here.

That is why we have selected a team to develop combinations, with the intent of growing our game to meet the challenge of Moana Pasifika for our first Super Rugby game in three weeks’ time.”

Reserve halfback Kalani Thomas is also in line for his 50th Reds cap in the first meeting between Queensland and Bristol since 1980.

“We’re really excited for the challenge of playing under lights at Ashton Gate; it’s something we’re all incredibly keen for,” Reds co-captain Tate McDermott added.

“It’s been a hell of a long time since we’ve played Bristol, and to represent Queensland so far away from Suncorp (Stadium) is unique and exciting.”
