The Australia U20 have finished their U20 Rugby Championship campaign with a 32-30 win over Argentina in South Africa.

"We had our hearts in our mouth at the end there, but it was good to finally come away with a win after a long tour,” captain Tom Robinson said post-match.

"The win gives us a lot to build off and hopefully a bit of momentum heading into the Junior World Championships.”

The Aussies scored first through Edwin Langi after he sliced through the defence on a clever pick and go in the fourth minute.

After Los Pumitas had sustained a period of pressure, they thought they finally had their first points on the board before TMO ruled a try out for a knock-on in the build-up.

Argentina did break the Australian defensive line a few minutes later when hooker Manuel Cuneo fell over to score courtesy of a powerful rolling maul.

The Aussies took advantage of a yellow card against the Argentineans, using the numbers to put Leo Jaques over as his strong tournament form continued.

Captain Robinson extended the lead just before the break after Australia scored their own rolling maul try.

Australia started the second forty the same way they did the first, with an early try in the opening few minutes, this one coming to Ewald Kruger through another rolling maul.

Prop Langi would keep the momentum going, grabbing his second of the night from close range to give the Aussies a commanding nineteen point lead.

Argentina wrestled the momentum back, grabbing the next two tries to cut the deficit to seven as they attempted to complete the comeback before a penalty goal from Jonty Fowler pushed the lead back to two scores.

Los Pumitas then kicked a penalty goal of their own before racing away to score from the resulting kickoff.

However, they couldn’t convert the try to level the scores as the Aussies hung on late to emerge winners.
