Southern Lions and Wanneroo are through to the Fortescue Premier Grade Semi-Finals after an action-packed weekend of finals rugby.
Southern Lions delivered when it mattered, overcoming Wests Scarborough 32–14 to keep their Premiership campaign alive. The Lions crossed through Tacikalou Naisiroki, a penalty try and an additional two tries. Turagava added two conversions and two penalty goals to help seal the win. Wests Scarborough fought hard, with Waqanisau Junior and Seve finding the try line and Cadzow and Pinker adding the conversions, but the Lions proved too strong.
The weekend’s second Quarter Final produced a thriller, with Wanneroo holding off a fast-finishing Nedlands to secure a dramatic 39–33 victory. Reilly crossed twice for Wanneroo, with Lalagavesi also scoring a try. Mainwaring added two conversions and four penalty goals, while Grattan contributed another penalty goal. Nedlands refused to go quietly, launching a late charge with four tries inside the final 12 minutes. Stewart, Anderson, Poi, Koteka and Louwrens all crossed, with Fitzgerald and Robson adding the conversions, but Wanneroo held their nerve to advance.
Now only four teams remain. Wanneroo will face Palmyra, while Southern Lions take on Cottesloe in this weekend’s Semi-Finals, with two places in the 2026 Fortescue Premier Grade Grand Final up for grabs.
