A significant part of Noosa Dolphin history is our treasured fig tree better known as the ‘Tree of Knowledge’ that stands proudly next to our Clubhouse.

In the late ‘80s and ‘90s this tree was the centrepiece of the Noosa Reef Hotel beer garden, the place we celebrated the end of season ‘Dolphin Day’ before the Clubhouse stood where it is today.

In 1994, as part of the Reef Hotel renovations the small(ish) fig was to be cut down.

When foundation member, the late Darryl Corrie got wind of this, and given the history and connection to the Dolphins, he was not going to let that happen.

Darryl rallied a group of players and supporters to dig the tree out, load it onto a truck and replant it on Dolphin soil where it stands today.

The area now, completely covered by the tree's beautiful branches, continues to act as a ceremonial space where celebrations are held, team gatherings take place, and Dolphin memories live on.
