USA Women’s Rugby has officially kicked off the new Rugby World Cup cycle with recently appointed Head Coach Jack Hanratty and staff assembling 36 of the top USA based players for a 5-day talent ID and commencement camp in Chula Vista, California.

The camp will set the tone establishing standards and player pathways for the upcoming season and beyond to the 2029 and 2033 Women’s Rugby World Cup cycles. Players and staff will have the opportunity to assess the current state of play for USA Women’s Eagles following the 2025 season and solidify the vision and expectations of players entering the training pool going forward. Together with pathways coaches, Senior Team staff will focus on understanding national physical and rugby IQ levels to identify player potential for developing current and future Eagles.

With a large portion of the USA Women’s Eagles playing overseas, this camp will focus on domestic talent and identifying new potential. Player invites were based off of Junior National Team & Pathway Camp assessment, Talent ID days and standout competition performance.

Head Coach, Jack Hanratty brings a new perspective to the set up and expressed his enthusiasm to lead this new era of Eagles;

"We are delighted to be starting our RWC 2029 journey in Chula Vista with our domestic athletes. This will be an opportunity to see first hand the great work done across the country in clubs, communities, Colleges and WER.”

“The camp will be focused on identifying a crop of athletes for the start of our 2026 depth chart while establishing some core skill work-ons in areas of the game we want to focus on this cycle.”

“We know how much talent there is available across the US and the Eagles staff look forward to being active and visible as we build to not only 2029 but to our home World Cup in 2033."

The domestic camp will conclude with an internal Stars v Stripes scrimmage giving players a platform to implement and trial new skillsets, player cohesion and work rate as a team.

Hanratty will next travel abroad where he will convene eligible players for a European alignment camp. USA Women’s Eagles currently contracted professionally overseas  will assemble to familiarize with Hanratty and his coaching staff to establish team process, standards and style of play ahead of the PAC4 Competition this April.
