Counties Manukau Rugby proudly congratulates Sevens representative Sunia Vosikata on his selection in the New Zealand Under-85kg national squad.

Vosikata has been a standout performer within the Counties Manukau Sevens programme, consistently demonstrating exceptional speed, agility and attacking flair. He has also impressed at club level with Karaka Rugby Club, where his relentless work rate and explosiveness have made him a vital contributor.

The New Zealand Under-85kg team has been confirmed for an international tour to Sri Lanka in April/May 2026, where they will play two fixtures against the Sri Lanka Tuskers in Colombo on 25 April and Kandy on 3 May. The tour is designed to deepen international rugby ties and offer players a chance to test themselves in challenging conditions overseas.

Reflecting on his selection, Vosikata described the moment as truly special:

“It was an unexpected surprise getting the call-up. Karaka Rugby Club helped shape the player I am today. This opportunity means a lot to me — to be able to represent my family in Fiji and here at Karaka Rugby Club.”

His inclusion in the NZ Under-85kg squad is a testament to the commitment and dedication he brings both in the Hoops and for his club.

Counties Manukau Rugby is thrilled to see Sunia’s hard work recognised at national level and looks forward to watching him wear the black jersey with pride on the international stage.

John Afoa, Counties Manukau Steelers Forwards Coach & Scott Hooper, Pukekohe Premiers Asst Coach have also been selected to coach the side. Hooper previously served as Counties Manukau U85 Head Coach & U18 Asst Coach in the past.
