Australia Sevens stars Alysia Lefau-Fakaosilea, Teagan Levi and Kaitlin Shave will make their returns to the Women's squad for the sixth round of the HSBC SVNS series in New York from Sunday morning (AEDT).
The trio's inclusions were pre-planned prior to the Vancouver event with Lefau-Fakaosilea’s comeback to the Australian side more than two years in the making after long-term knee and shoulder setbacks.
The 25-year-old last featured for the Australian Sevens side during the Perth Sevens in January, 2024, before suffering an ACL injury prior to the Paris Olympic Games.
Levi and Shave return refreshed after being rested for the Vancouver trip, where the Aussie Women were narrowly beaten by New Zealand in the final last weekend.
Mackenzie Davis, Bridget Clark and Kiiahla Duff return home as part of the New York reshuffle and with a short turnaround looming in the Big Apple.
The Australian Women sit second on the World Series table following one title win and four second-place finishes.
Australia Sevens Women’s coach Tim Walsh said: "We are tracking well despite not getting the win we desired in Vancouver.
"We’re continuing to rotate our squad with Alysia Lefau-Fakaosilea returning from long-term injuries plus Teagan Levi and Kaitlin Shave re-joining the team to bolster the squad.
"We are looking to finish the regular series off with the paradox of detail providing consistency whilst challenging athletes to explore their skillsets and strategies."
Meanwhile, the Aussie Men's squad is unchanged following their fourth-place finish in Vancouver.
Last weekend’s debutant Archie Saunders retains his spot after scoring a try on debut while Maurice Longbottom and James Turner made successful returns from injury.
Barry’s men are ranked fourth going into the final round of the regular season before the World Championships kick off in Hong Kong from April 17-19.
Australia Sevens Men’s coach Liam Barry said: "The team were pleased with their overall Day 1 performance but then bitterly disappointed with their Day 2 results.
"We thought we had enough chances in our semi-final to win the game but our execution and added to a couple of critical decisions that went against us.
"Unfortunately we took this frustration into the third-place playoff and lacked discipline which is not how we play.
"We are all very excited that we are heading to New York for the first time and will look to improve in this weekend’s performances."
The New York event is the first time the World Series has been played at New Jersey’s Sports Illustrated Stadium.
Australia’s Men will meet France, New Zealand and South Africa in the pool stages while the Aussie Women clash with Japan, Canada and USA.
Every round of the HSBC SVNS series will be shown exclusive, ad-free, live and on demand on Stan Sport.
