RugbyWA is set to host its annual Belt Up Round this weekend in partnership with the Insurance Commission of Western Australia, reinforcing the importance of road safety across the rugby community.
The annual initiative uses the power and reach of grassroots rugby to encourage Western Australians to make safe choices on the road, with a simple but potentially life-saving reminder: Belt Up every trip, every time.
As part of the round, clubs across Western Australia will amplify Belt Up messaging throughout their venues, helping reinforce the importance of wearing a seatbelt among players, volunteers, officials and supporters.
The feature event will take place at Wanneroo Rugby Union Club on Saturday, June 20, with Belt Up Round activations showcased throughout a full day of community rugby. The schedule features junior, women's and men's fixtures, highlighted by a marquee triple-header including the Women's Fortescue Premier Grade clash between Wanneroo and Cottesloe, the Western Force Women hosting the Queensland Reds in Super Rugby Women's action, and the Men's Fortescue Premier Grade fixture between Wanneroo and Cottesloe. All three feature matches will be streamed live on STAN Sport, helping extend the Belt Up message to rugby fans across Western Australia and beyond.
The Insurance Commission has been a valued partner of RugbyWA since 2014, investing nearly $3 million into RugbyWA and grassroots rugby across the State. Through the partnership, more than 25,000 rugby balls have been distributed to clubs, supporting participation while helping deliver important road safety awareness to communities throughout Western Australia.
Best of luck to all teams taking the field this weekend, and remember - Belt Up every trip, every time.
