The next generation of Brumbies stars will charge up to Sydney this September, with the ACT Brumbies confirming their U16 and U18 squads for the 2026 Provincial Girls XV Invitational.
Bringing together emerging talent from across the ACT and Southern NSW, the two teams will travel to Eric Tweedle Stadium, Granville, on September 19-20, ready to test themselves against some of the strongest provincial programs from across Australia.
From the capital to the country, the squads showcase the depth and diversity of the Brumbies pathway, featuring players from ACT clubs and schools alongside regional representatives from across Southern NSW. Players from Canberra, Tumut, Temora, Leeton, Albury and Wagga Wagga will come together under the Brumbies banner, representing the strength of girls rugby throughout the region.
The U16 Brumbies will be led by Head Coach Junior Luteru, supported by Assistant Coaches Shelley Bradshaw and Stewart Stout. The U18 squad will be guided by Head Coach Tristan Buttenshaw, with Tim Hawke as Assistant Coach.
ACT Brumbies Progam Manager, and current Brumbies and Wallaroo star, Lily Bone said the squads reflected the continued growth and strength of girls rugby across the ACT and Southern NSW.
“Seeing players from right across our region earn the opportunity to represent the Brumbies is a great reflection of the work being done by clubs, schools and coaches throughout the pathway,” said Bone.
“This tournament is an important step in our pathway. It gives players the opportunity to test themselves against some of the best young talent in the country, experience what it means to represent the Brumbies and continue developing towards higher honours.
“It's exciting to see the depth of talent coming through our region, and we're looking forward to watching these players embrace the challenge and represent the Brumbies with pride.”
The Brumbies will compete against some of the strongest emerging girls rugby programs in the country, with teams from NSW, Queensland and Victoria featuring across both competitions.
In the U16 competition, the Brumbies have been drawn in Pool A alongside NSW Juniors Blue, Queensland Country Orchids and NSWJRU Barbarians. Pool B features NSW Juniors White, Queensland Country Baa Baas, BJRU and Rugby Victoria.
The U18 competition will feature a seven-team field, with the Brumbies set to face Sydney Juniors, NSW Country, Rugby Victoria, Queensland Country Orchids, Queensland Country Baa Baas and NSWJRU Barbarians.
The tournament will provide another important step in the development of the region’s next generation of Brumbies. The charge begins in September, with the next generation of Brumbies ready to represent their region on the provincial stage.
