Harry Wilson's 7' Try in the Queensland Reds clash with NSW Waratahs #SuperRugbyPacific

RECAP: The Queensland Reds have found their way home, taking down the NSW Waratahs 26-17 at Suncorp Stadium.

The Waratahs got the better of the Reds in their opening round fixture, claiming a 36-12 victory in Sydney, and they looked to be on top when they took a 14-7 lead late in a tense game.

However, this opened the floodgates as the Reds' attack kicked into action.

Flyhalf Carter Gordon crossed for a double, while Jock Campbell and Filipo Daugunu were also excellent.

Gordon's solo effort with eight minutes to go proved the difference as they held on for the win.

77': Waratahs on the hunt

Reds 26-17: The Waratahs aren't out of it yet as they hunt for a crucial try.

They keep turning down three as they try to get a crucial five-pointer, but the Reds blow up the maul for a vital steal.

75': Gordon does it again

Reds 26-17: Carter Gordon makes it two with a special solo effort.

Gordon breaks the line and sprints past Harry Potter at fullback, diving over the line in the corner.

73': Reilly denied special

Reds 19-17: Triston Reilly has nearly produced the try of the year in a remarkable effort that deserved five points.

Reilly somehow stays in the field of play as he dives for the try-line, with the TMO just showing the ball on the in-goal line.

Credit to Jock Campbell for the try saver but geez that would've been special.

69': Henry puts Reds in front

Reds 19-17: It's a special Reds try as Isaac Henry dives over for the lead.

Filipo Daugunu does all the damage, breaking clear from close to the 22 as he races away, finding his centre who just has enough pace for the line.

65': Jorgensen delivers for Potter

Waratahs 17-12: From absolutely nothing, Max Jorgensen creates a great try for Harry Potter.

Jorgensen finally gets into space and chips ahead, putting his foot to the loose ball as Potter wins the race.

61': Gordon delivers

12-all: Carter Gordon does it again as the flyhalf steps up in the right place at the right time.

Jock Campbell creates the break as the hosts flung the ball out wide, with Harry Potter's intercept attempt failing at the feet of Gordon.

56': Waratahs finally over

12-7 Waratahs: Ioane Moananu breaks the deadlock as the Waratahs power their way over the line.

They stay patient after a scrum penalty puts them five metres out, sheering away to put their hooker over the line.

51': Reds can't convert

7-all: The Reds finally get some time inside the Waratahs half as they start to pick up speed.

But right as they enter the 22, the hosts are pinged for side entry.

48': Waratahs attack not clicking

7-all: Again, the Waratahs are struggling to break down the Reds' defence as the play stays in the Reds half.

Sid Harvey tries to put James Hendren into space, but the offload just can't find his man.

42': Waratahs still hunting

7-all: It's a repeat of the first half as the Waratahs build several phases but with no way through the Reds line.

The Reds force the turnover and then Pete Samu puts it on the toe, watching the ball trickle out.

HALF TIME: REDS 7 - 7 WARATAHS
40': Waratahs again stuffed

7-all: The Waratahs and Reds go into the break tied after another Waratahs attack is shut out.

The visitors win the scrum penalty and kick for the line, with Lukhan Salakaia-Loto getting the lineout steal.

35': Reds shut down Waratahs

7-all: Crucial defensive work from the Reds keeps the Waratahs out once again.

This time, it's the rolling maul defence as Joe Brial disrupts the ball and stops it from coming out.

31': Werchon sparks Reds

7-all: Quick thinking from Louis Werchon sparks the Reds after a classy 50-22.

The Reds re-gather their bomb and it falls to the half, who wisely puts it on the boot as it trickles out.

The host can't make use of the field position, dropping the ball straight away after the lineout.

25': Defence stepping up

7-all: Neither side is really making metres as the two teams' defence has turned this game into a tense encounter.

The Waratahs enjoy their fair share of territory but with little room through the Reds defence.

19': Reds denied chance to respond

7-all: The Reds have the Waratahs under major pressure as they work close to the line.

A forward pass brings it all to an end as Josh Flook dumps it back inside as he's about to go out.

16': Adamson fights over

7-all: The Waratahs finally get their way over the line via late inclusion Jamie Adamson.

The flanker drives his legs and carries the Reds defenders over after a smart ball on the short side.

13': Waratahs held up

Reds 7-0: The Reds keep holding touch in defence, holding Clem Halaholo over the line.

Jack Debreczeni is stopped inches out the phase before, with the Reds flipping the back-rower onto his back.

10': Waratahs met by maroon wall

Reds 7-0: The Waratahs are starting to build pressure on the Reds but the hosts are hanging tough.

Filipo Daugunu again forces the turnover, this time putting Pete Samu into touch.

6': Put it in H

Reds 7-0: The Wallabies skipper goes over for the opener as Harry Wilson dives over.

Carter Gordon puts up the bomb and both sides miss it, falling to Jock Campbell, who hands it off to the number eight to spin over.

2': Reds early chance

Filipo Daugunu showcases his breakdown ability, winning a key pilfer penalty on the Waratahs 22 as the Reds get an early chance to put on points.

But they can't make it happen early as the 'Tahs force the mistake.

KICK OFF

Jock Campbell kicks off this game and the derby is underway.

Joey Walton leads out the Waratahs in his 50th game of Super Rugby, while the Reds follow them out in front of a growing Suncorp crowd.
