Old Blue recently placed third at the USA Rugby Men's 7s Nationals, held August 9-10 in Cottage Grove, WI. Madison United Rugby hosted the event at Wisconsin Rugby Sports Complex.
In pool play, Old Blue went 3-0 by topping Austin Huns (21-15), Nova (22-12) and Life West (20-19). A 19-7 win over Detroit Tradesmen pushed Old Blue to the Semifinal, where it dropped a tough 19-14 decision to Chicago Lions. Old Blue faced off against fellow Northeast foe Mystic River in the Cup Bronze match, where is ran past the Gulls, 33-0, to secure third place in the competition.
