Neighbours set to duke it out this weekend

Defending champions Patumahoe face unbeaten Pukekohe in a mouth-watering McNamara Cup battle at Patumahoe Domain on Saturday.

After dropping their grand final replay in the opening week, Patumahoe has won four straight matches, while their opponents have also won four on the bounce and are yet to drop a game.

Manurewa will be desperate to get a win when they host Ardmore Marist at Mountfort Park. Jeremy Clark’s side is no stranger to slow starts before getting it right later in the season, but they won’t want to fall too far behind the leading sides.

Unbeaten Karaka hosts bottom placed Papakura at Karaka Sports Complex.

The Golden Gumboot is up for grabs in the Sid Marshall Shield this week with Te Kauwhata hosting neighbours Maramarua in the annual contest.

Manurewa travels to Onewhero, Tuakau hosts Drury, Weymouth heads over the Tuakau Bridge to play Te Kohanga while Puni hosts Waiuku in what should be a tough battle.

Pukekohe heads to Waiuku in the Massey Cup U21 competition. In other games, Patumahoe hosts Ardmore Marist and Karaka travels to Manurewa.

The Bright Cup U19 grade round began Thursday night with Rua North accounting for Pukekohe 36-0.

In other matches this weekend, Waiuku hosts Ardmore Marist and Manurewa traveling to College Rifles.

Waiuku heads to Drury in the U85kg competition looking for a win that would propel them up among the leaders.

Bombay travels to Morrinsville, Beachlands Maraetai hosts Hamilton Marist, while Patumahoe hosts Fraser Tech.
