RECAP: Cale the hero as Brumbies steal last minute win over Blues

RECAP: Charlie Cale has scored in the 82nd minute for a thrilling 30-27 win over the Blues.

The Brumbies were in deep trouble after Dalton Papali'i scored in the corner for a late nine point lead.

But the hosts never gave up and a yellow card against Stephen Perofeta started the comeback.

Luke Reimer crossed with nine to go before Cale worked his way over after 20 phases well after the siren sounded.

It lifts the Brumbies into outright first and keeps their unbeaten streak going for the season.

Billy Pollard is stopped inches out and Rob Valetini dives for the line and we'll go to the TMO, who rules him held up.

44': Blues thwarted

18-15 Brumbies: The Blues again force the mistake from the kick-off and start moving down the field.

It takes a rock solid shot from Rhys van Nek and Rob Valetini to dislodge the ball and the hosts get the scrum eight metres out that they convert into a penalty.

Referee Angus Gardner issues the warning to the Blues props after one too many illegal collapses.

42': Brumbies back in front

18-15 Brumbies: Ryan Lonergan puts the Brumbies back in front to start the half.

Ollie Sapsford wins the high ball to put them inside the Blues 22, drawing the kickable penalty for the captain.

15-all: The Brumbies force the error and try to add to the score late.

However, they'll go into the break locked with the Blues after an error on the 22.

They shift to the right but find the hands of Corey Toole, chipping ahead and into touch.

15-all: The Brumbies win another scrum penalty and turn down the points for the line.

It blows up in their face when the throw isn't straight and the Blues clear their line.

15-all: The power game of the Blues delivers them the lead as AJ Lam barges his way over.

The centre beats two close to the line and runs through another to charge over for the lead.

26': Perofeta reduces margin

15-10 Brumbies: Blues sharpshooter Stephen Perofeta brings the margin inside a converted try as they narrow the Brumbies lead.

The Brumbies are caught offside and Perofeta makes no mistake from right in front

23': Brumbies out to entertain

15-7 Brumbies: The hosts are full of running after winning the ball back from the bomb.

It ends in a knock-on close to halfway but they are looking slick when they spread it wide.

21': Billy bomb

15-7 Brumbies: Billy Pollard gets a head of steam up at the rolling maul and can't be stopped.

The hooker splits early from the rilling maul and runs over the top of two for the try.

19': Brumbies held up

10-7 Brumbies: The Brumbies think they've found the line but the referee rules it held up and goes back for the penalty advantage.

Rhys van Nek is inches away from the line and the Brumbies insist Cadeyrn Neville got to the line, but the replays show van Nek knocked it on anyway so it wouldn't have mattered

15': Brumbies back in front

10-7 Brumbies: Ryan Lonergan takes the chance to slot a very easy penalty to put the Brumbies back in front.

It comes off the back of back-to-back penalties close to the line, with Lonergan easily slotting the three pointer from right in front

12': Clarke strikes for response

7-all: Caleb Clarke levels the scores thanks to a gift intercept.

The Brumbies try to go out the back but the ball is telegraphed and floats onto his chest, with Clarke easing away for the try.

10': Blues look to respond

Brumbies 7-0: The Blues are starting to roll through their maul as they set up deep inside the Brumbies territory.

But again, the hosts come up trumps with the turnover and then the penalty.

7': Slipper grubber leads to opener

Brumbies 7-0: James Slipper keeps amazing people as the prop shows off the kicking skills for the opener.

The ball spills out and the prop puts the ball on the toe deep into the 22, allowing his half Declan Meredith to race onto it and touch down.

3': Blues first chance to strike

The Blues will get the first chance to apply pressure as Dalton Papali'i wins the pilfer penalty after some early kicking battles.

The Brumbies try to steal the lineout and can't collect it, leading to a Blues scrum on the 22 that ends in a penalty to the hosts.
