NSW Waratahs fullback Sid Harvey is relishing his chance to start at Super Rugby level as the impressive 20-year-old continues to turn heads.

Harvey was the standout for the Waratahs in their 35-20 defeat to the Blues, creating several chances whilst not missing a kick from the tee.

It comes after debuting against the Hurricanes earlier in the month, earning his maiden start the week later against the Queensland Reds.

The performance has placed the Easts product tied for top of the Rookie of the Year voting, having jumped straight into Super Rugby from the Sevens and Colts programs last year.

"My first proper men's game was against South Africa in the Sevens [in Dubai in November 2024] and I learnt pretty quickly where I needed to be," he said to reporters.

"I came back and played a couple of games of Colts, and then I went away to the 20s stuff, and it was back in between, then I came back and played 4 or 5 games off the bench for first grade at least. Super Rugby AUS was probably my first exposure to men's proper rugby, and now I'm getting a bit more consistent footy.

"I think there's always the excitement of debuting and playing at new stadiums or whatever. I'm probably past that now which is a bit of a relief because I can get a bit nervous with it.

"I think past those first two weeks now it's just playing footy, it's a game back at Narrabri now. For me it's just the same process, it's the same looking up, seeing space and playing to it. It's not really any different, I think I'll be able to settle into that a little bit better this last week."

Harvey's confidence was undented after three straight defeats, looking to turn around their pool run of form against the ACT Brumbies on Friday.

The Waratahs have not tasted success at GIO Stadium since 2018, ending a 13-game losing streak last season.

"It's not really any different from any other game but there'll be that extra feeling there," Harvey said.

"There's probably a lot more belief this week than there was last week, within the group of what we can do once we get our process right, it's just executing that. When we're at our best, we compete with the best and are better than them. It's just when we clock off those 10 or 15 minutes, a couple of phases, the teams can hurt us and Brumbies can do that, they've got a lot of damaging players.

"We're focusing on our process and sticking to it and just doing well, just nailing it this time."
