Olympians Maurice Longbottom and Josh Turner have joined rookie Will Cartwright in re-signing with the Australia Men’s Sevens program for the 2026-2027 season.
Longbottom will return for a 10th campaign after agreeing to a 12-month extension while Turner could reach 50 caps next season following a new one-year contract.
La Perouse-born Longbottom is the second most experienced player in the Men’s squad with over 250 matches under his belt and closing in on 1000 HSBC SVNS World Series points.
Turner is close behind his Sevens teammate after making his international debut in 2018, notching his 46th cap in Australia's World Championship finish in Bordeaux in June.
Cartwright made an impressive start to his Sevens career before a shoulder injury in Perth ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
The 23-year-old scored a decisive double for a memorable debut in Dubai as he looks towards a possible call-up to the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
Director of High Performance Peter Horne said: “It is pleasing to have experience back on board in Maurice and Josh, who have been with the Men’s program for almost a decade each.
“Will is on the comeback trail from injury and after making a good impression early in his journey we are looking forward to having him back on the field next season.
“The squad is building nicely ahead of qualifying for the LA Olympics next year.”
Longbottom will join the Ultimate Sevens competition in September before linking with Cartwright and Turner for Australia Sevens pre-season training in October.
