Stephen Larkham's side took a slender lead into the break but it was their second half that turned the game.

Charlie Cale scored a double as they caught the Crusaders on the counter despite a yellow card to Cadeyrn Neville.

The Crusaders looked set for a comeback when Leicester Fainga'anuku struck to reduce the lead to seven with 12 minutes to go.

But a stunning finish saw the visitors pile on three straight tries for the first victory in Christchurch since 2000.

79': Toole caps off famous win

Brumbies 50-24: A remarkable finish as Corey Toole runs 70 metres for the half century.

Toole gets the ball and sprints away, stepping back inside and beating his man for the try.

77': Brumbies ice game

Brumbies 43-24: Rob Valetini seals a famous win in Christchurch for the Brumbies.

The flanker is unstoppable from short and the Crusaders fans are stunned.

75': Crucial territory for Brumbies as Jordan goes down

Brumbies 36-24: A massive collision between Ollie Sapsford and Will Jordan forces the ball loose and back into the Crusaders half.

They toe the ball inside the 22 and then force the error for a big opportunity.

73': Bowron barrels over

Brumbies 36-24: Huge work from the Brumbies forwards delivers what could be the winner.

The Brumbies maul the ball close to the line and hooker Liam Bowron splits away and dives over for a massive try.

Edmed can't convert.

72': Brumbies starting to march

Brumbies 31-24: The Brumbies are marching down the field and win a crucial penalty on the 22.

They kick for the line as further time comes off the clock.

70': Knock on gives Brumbies field position

Brumbies 31-24: A huge chance for the Brumbies as a costly knock-on stops the Crusaders attack close to halfway.

It gives them a pivotal field position as they look to wind down the clock

68': Fainga'anuku powers over

Brumbies 31-24: Leicester Fainga'anuku finally finds a way over and powers his way over.

Great ball puts the centre in space but Taha Kemara misses the conversion and the lead stays at seven

66': Crusaders putting on the pressure

Brumbies 31-19: The hosts are piling on the pressure as the Brumbies look to hold on.

They're inside the ten metres and trying to find a way through, with Will Jordan barrelled into touch under penalty advantage.

The Brumbies now receive a warning for too many penalties

61': Crusaders working down a man

Brumbies 31-19: Even down a man, the Crusaders are still looking a threat.

They march inside the 22 and win a penalty to take a quick tap.

Codie Taylor dives for the try-line but the pass is overcooked and he's in touch and in pain.

59': Cale at the double as Crusaders feel double jeopardy

Brumbies 31-19: Another against-the-play moment as Charlie Cale gets his second.

The Brumbies capitalise on some loose ball and Tane Edmed finds Ollie Sapsford, who hands it to Cale unmarked, allowing the number eight to race away.

In further bad news, the Crusaders go down to 14 after Dom Gardiner hits Andy Muirhead in the head, earning a yellow under review.

56': Reece lightning

Brumbies 24-19: The Crusaders' All Black contingency delivers as Sevu Reece dives in the corner.

Leiciester Fainga'anuku just beats the charging defence of Andy Muirhead, with Will Jordan finding his winger in the corner

54: Pritchard strikes against the run of play

Brumbies 24-14: Kadin Pritchard strikes as the Brumbies give the Crusaders a taste of their own medicine.

Declan Meredith delivers an inch perfect chip kick that bounces wildly for the centre to pounce and strike.

52': Fainga'anuku held up

Brumbies 19-14: Somehow, the Crusaders find a way to hold up Leciester Fainga'anuku.

The replacement makes an instant impact as he breaks the line from close, with Charlie Cale just doing enough to hold him up.

James Slipper is down but seems fine as he departs the field to warm applause.

49': Neville off for ten

Brumbies 19-14: A clear professional foul against Cadeyrn Neville sees the lock yellow carded.

Noah Hotham goes quick from the tap and Neville can't help himself, dragging him down and seeing yellow.

46': Sloppy play from both sides

Brumbies 19-14: The Brumbies and Crusaders are just struggling to find their feet after the break.

The visitors start with putting the ball out on the full and when their kicking improves, the Crusaders instantly cough it up, which is negate by a poor pass and a dropped ball from David Feliuai.

42': Brumbies handle early pressure

Brumbies 19-14: Good defence from the Brumbies after giving up the kick-off.

They handle everything the Crusaders throw at them and force a rushed pass that hits the deck.

HALF TIME: BRUMBIES 19 - 14 CRUSADERS
39': Brumbies nearly make it back-to-back

Brumbies 19-14: The Brumbies almost extend their lead as smart hands from the backline puts Ollie Sapsford into space.

Declan Meredith just can't control the ball back inside and the hosts survive.

37': Cale strikes for lead

Brumbies 19-14: A physical effort from Charlie Cale delivers a much-needed try before the break.

Cale goes against the grain as the visiotrs just hold their scrum solid enough, carrying three defenders and somehow finding the line

36': Shalfoon in the bin

14-all: Sure enough, the Crusaders are down to 14 and Antonio Shalfoon heads to the bin.

There were multiple penalties against the Crusaders, with Ryan Lonergan falling just short of the line, before the visitors opt for a five metre scrum.

33': Crusaders on the back foot

14-all: The Crusaders just can't find their momentum and now they are on a warning.

Six penalties in a row, most inside the 22, leave Ben O'Keeffe no real option.

29': Celebratory Slips

14-all: James Slipper the man you are!

Andy Muirhead again breaks the Crusaders open and finds Cadeyrn Neville, who is dragged out a metre out.

The lock pops it up and finds the 200th gamer for the try to the delight of the visitors.

24': Bell on the ball

Crusaders 14-7: The Crusaders' counterattack finally kills the Brumbies as a smart kick from Taha Kemara finds Chay Fihaki.

Fihaki can't beat Declan Meredith but pops it for George Bell, who just has the pace to score.

22': Lineout worries hurting Brumbies

7-all: The Brumbies are killing themselves at lineout time.

There's been at least three inside the Crusaders 22 that have ended in turnovers.

19': Muirhead does it all

7-all: A crucial try for the Brumbies as Andy Muirhead sparks something out of nothing.

The fullback capitalises on the quick ball and lazy Crusaders' defence to explode onto it and carry two over for the try.

13': Brumbies turn to respond

Crusaders 7-0: The Brumbies again go on the attack inside the 22 as the Crusaders infringe again.

But their handling lets them down and again the Crusaders counter and force desperate scramble defence.

A smart kick behind forces the goal-line drop out, inches away from it being a five metre scrum.

10': Havili powers over

Crusaders 7-0: A brute of a run from David Havili gives the Crusaders first points.

Havili bumps off one Brumbies centre and carries the other over the line to plant it down.

8': Crusaders absorbing pressure

The Brumbies simply can't find a way through the Crusaders defence.

Real physical stuff from the hosts and they make a statement holding up Rob Valetini on the 22.

They counter instantly and sprint through the defence line, catching the visitors napping and leading to a prime opportunity 15 out.

4': Lonergan misses early chance

Brumbies captain Ryan Lonergan tries to settle the side after a wild start.

The Crusaders launch from deep inside their own in-goal but drop it and are pinged for holding on, allowing Lonergan to hunt for first points.

But the kick hits the post! The Crusaders survive and clear their 22.

2': Brumbies charging early

A real sloppy start from both sides as the Crusaders fumble the kick-off and can't exit their line.

The Brumbies are presented with a lineout chance, but it's stolen, with the visitors handed a similar chance shortly afterwards that turns into a penalty for in the side.

Another faulty lineout allows the hosts to escape.

KICKOFF

Declan Meredith kicks off and this game is underway, with the Brumbies running right to left on screen with the wind at their back.

James Slipper leads the Brumbies out in his 200th Super Rugby game, becoming only the second man to reach this mark. Fittingly, the other is Wyatt Crockett, a man synonymous with the Crusaders and their success.

Both teams mark a moment of silence on the 15th anniversary of the Christchurch earthquake.
