Former Wallabies coach Dave Rennie will return to New Zealand a winner, having broken a long drought when his Kobe Steelers beat Spears Funabashi Bay in the Japan Rugby League One final.
The Steelers scored a comfortable 22-13 win in front of 50,451 people at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo on Sunday, with Rennie taking down his former flyhalf Foley in the process.
Foley came off the final seconds of the game, having kicked the Spears to a 13-3 lead before the Steelers rolled over the top of them.
Sunday's game was a heartbreaking end to the Japanese career of the former Wallabies playmaker Foley. Speculated to be on his way back to the Waratahs, where he won a Super Rugby title in 2014, the 36-year-old exited as the leading point-scorer in League One history, tallying 785 from his 73 matches.
Foley was a driving force behind the Spears' maiden Japanese title three years ago, when he finished as the competition's leading scorer with 199 points.
Len Ikitau and Tom Hooper have again delivered for Exeter as they qualified for the Premiership semi-finals with a 32-12 win over Saracens.
Ikitau had seven tackle busts while Hooper recorded two turnovers in the must-win game, booking their spot in the final four against Bath, who defeated James O'Connor's Leicester 24-22.
Josh Kemeny and James Ramm both had big games in Northampton's 38-31 defeat to Harlequins, with Kemeny crossing as Ramm ran for a team-high 117 metres.
In France, Tolu Latu's La Rochelle booked their spot in the finals with a 27-22 win over Stade Français, and the two teams face off again this week in the first round of the finals.
The other finals will see Pau take on Racing 92, with Pau handing former Rebels squad member Xander Iosefo his Top 14 starting debut in a thumping 71-35 victory over Montauban.
Tom Banks and Montpellier will enjoy the week off after he had two line breaks and four tackle busts in a 28-25 win over Lyon.
