Tasmanian Rugby is set for a massive April, with a packed calendar of events that will reconnect communities, build momentum, and launch the 2026 season in style.

The month begins around the Easter period, one of the key community moments on the Australian sporting calendar.

Following the Easter break, attention quickly turns to rugby activity across the state.

The action kicks off with the Northern rugby community taking centre stage at the Launceston 7’s on Saturday 11 April. This is followed by a key development block across the next two days, with a Community Coach Course on Sunday 12 April (venue TBC), and an Assistant Referee Course at Rugby Park on Monday 13 April, strengthening the match official pathway ahead of the season.

The spotlight then shifts south for a blockbuster weekend in Hobart. The Hobart 7’s will be played on Saturday 18 April, showcasing fast-paced rugby and bringing clubs together just one week out from the season.

That evening, the rugby community will come together off the field for the official Season Launch, celebrating the start of the 2026 campaign with clubs, sponsors and stakeholders.

The momentum continues the following day, with Junior Gala Day No. 1 at Rugby Park on Sunday 19 April. This marks the first major junior activation of the year, focused on participation, development and enjoyment for young players across the state.

All roads then lead to Round 1 of the 2026 competitions, kicking off on Saturday 2 May.

April represents more than just a lead-in to the season. It is a coordinated build of participation, capability and connection across all levels of Tasmanian Rugby, setting a strong foundation for what promises to be a defining year.
