RugbyWA is thrilled to confirm the extension of their partnership with Healthway, continuing through 2026 and 2027.
The renewed partnership marks the launch of a new, holistic initiative, ‘Rugby for Life’, designed to build healthier, more connected rugby communities across Western Australia by embedding a culture of wellbeing throughout the sport.
Building on previous campaigns such as ‘Alcohol, Think Again,’ the program will focus on mental health and wellbeing, reduce harmful alcohol consumption, encourage healthy eating, and support active lifestyles - empowering clubs to make small, achievable changes that create lasting impact.
The program will continue the Champions of Rugby competition, which rewards clubs for local initiatives that promote health and wellbeing. In 2025, Ellenbrook Vipers Rugby Club claimed the title for their work in reducing alcohol consumption, fostering youth engagement and prioritising mental health.
Funding of $330,000 over two years will support the rollout of the initiative across clubs in Perth, Peel, South West, Goldfields and Great Southern regions.
RugbyWA Chief Executive Officer, Simon Taylor, said: “We’re incredibly proud to extend our partnership with Healthway and continue working together to champion the health and wellbeing of our rugby community. This renewed commitment allows us to build on the strong foundations laid through previous initiatives, while introducing new, targeted programs that empower our clubs to make meaningful, lasting change. By focusing on both physical and mental wellbeing, we’re helping to create a stronger, more connected rugby community across Western Australia.”
Healthway CEO Colin Smith said: “This partnership helps us promote healthier options and ensures rugby continues to play a positive role in the lives of Western Australians.
Through our support for local rugby clubs, Healthway and RugbyWA aim to create safe and inclusive environments that strengthen wellbeing and foster healthier more connected communities.”
