The Townsville Brolgas are officially back in 2026, bringing representative rugby union opportunities for players across both junior and senior pathways. Selected from the local club competition, the Brolgas will once again represent the region against teams from across Queensland, with an exciting calendar of training, trials, and championship events ahead.
The 2026 program will feature teams across a wide range of age groups, highlighting the continued growth of rugby in the region. Junior teams include U12s Mixed, U13 Boys, U14 Boys, U14 Girls, U16 Boys, and U16 Girls, while senior representation will see teams in U18 Girls, U20s Men, Senior Women, and Senior Men.
Aspiring junior players are invited to attend open training sessions, designed to provide an introduction to the Brolgas environment and prepare athletes for the season ahead.

Please note: These sessions are not nominations for Junior Brolgas trials. Official trial nominations will be collected through players’ clubs, and all athletes wishing to trial must be registered with a Townsville & District Rugby Union club.

With both the Junior and Senior Queensland Country Championships once again being hosted in Townsville, 2026 shapes up as a major year for local rugby. The home-ground advantage provides a fantastic opportunity for players, clubs, and supporters to get involved, whether that’s stepping up to representative honours or cheering on the region’s best.
