The opening round of the Women’s Fortescue Premier Grade competition delivered dominant performances, strong individual efforts, and an early indication of which teams have set the standard for 2026.

Cottesloe made a powerful statement in their 47-0 win over Palmyra, producing a very clinical performance built on control and consistency. Their attack was sharp and composed, with Cleary leading the way by crossing for three tries, while Sesega added two more. Guyton, Hart, Muir, and Harvie also found the line as Cottesloe spread the scoring across the squad. Foster’s conversions complemented a composed and ruthless display from Cottesloe, who controlled the contest from start to finish.

Wests Scarborough secured a 26–14 win against Southern Lions in a competitive Round 1 matchup. Wests built pressure at key moments, with tries from Liddicoat, Kahura-Heta, Kovacs, and Fernandez giving them the ascendancy. Kahura-Heta was influential throughout, converting three tries to ensure Wests made the most of their opportunities. Southern Lions showed plenty of resilience and attacking intent, responding with tries from Wilson and Wallace, both converted by Ross, but Wests’ composure proved the difference.

Kalamunda delivered the most emphatic result of Round 1, overwhelming Perth Bayswater 71-0 in a dominant all-round performance. Heke was unstoppable, crossing for seven tries in a remarkable individual display, while Kereopa added two of her own and Ruru-Hinaki also joined the scoring. Walter was accurate from the tee with seven conversions, with Kereopa adding another. Despite the scoreline, Perth Bayswater found a standout performer in Munro, who showed strong leadership and determination throughout a challenging match.

With Round 1 complete, attention now shifts to Round 2 this weekend, with Stan Sport set to broadcast Palmyra as they take on an in‑form Kalamunda outfit. All other games will be available on Rugby Xplorer.
