Last Saturday, RugbyWA clubs united for the 2026 Belt Up Round, helping spread a simple but life-saving message across the rugby community: Belt Up every trip, every time.
Fortescue Premier Grade
Joondalup Brothers and Kalamunda could not be separated, finishing in a 29-all draw. Brothers crossed through Walker, Jewell, Van der Westhuizen and a penalty try, while Whittingham and Tarawa converted and Holman added a penalty goal. Kalamunda responded through tries from Stone, Tapara, Houkamau, Rawiri and Kamizona-Heke, with Jordan converting two tries to secure a share of the competition points.
Southern Lions held off Perth Bayswater 28-26 in a contest that went right down to the wire. The Lions’ points came through tries from Rafaele, Thomas and Salle Phelippes de la Marnierre, while Turagava added two conversions and three penalty goals. Bayswater stayed in the fight thanks to a hat-trick from Muavou and another try to Saulala, with Koiatu converting three times.
Nedlands continue their strong form, producing a commanding attacking display to defeat UWA 48-22. For UWA, Mitchell, Short and Lyons crossed the line, while Young added two conversions and a penalty goal. Nedlands ran in six tries through Louwrens, Poi, Boyd, Sangiorgi, Anderson. Robson was influential, with six conversions and two penalty goals.
Palmyra claimed a hard-fought 34-31 victory over Associates in another Round 10 thriller. Paese, Bailey, Eden, Alatini and Morgan all scored tries. Morgan added two conversions while Robertson contributed a conversion and penalty goal. Associates remained within striking distance through tries from Crozier, Phillips, Evans and Pieters, with Prior kicking four conversions and a penalty goal.
The highest-scoring game of the round saw Cottesloe defeat Wanneroo 45-41. Wanneroo’s Hastie starred with a hat-trick, while Ale, Grattan and Reilly also crossed. Ale added four conversions and Grattan slotted a penalty goal. Cottesloe responded through Mounsey, Sail, O’Grady, Bevin, Taylor and Cayless, with Taylor producing a perfect kicking performance, landing six conversions and a penalty goal.
Belt Up Colts
Southern Lions recorded a convincing 51-19 victory over Perth Bayswater. The Lions ran in tries through Heron, Adams, Huey, Scoon, Kleine-Deters Ausage, Smith, Atkin and Van der Merwe, while Heron added three conversions. Bayswater’s scorers were Officer, Morrison and Wuruki, with McDonald converting two tries.
Nedlands secured a valuable 31-24 victory over UWA in a closely contested encounter. UWA’s tries came through Reuben, Machaka and Gordon, with Barwood adding a conversion. Nedlands crossed through Oosthuizen, Weir, Amos and Wessels, while Innes kicked two conversions and Jackson added another.
